Christ the King Sunday is an act of gratitude to God, the Father, for having made His Son, King and Lord of all things.
It is a day we can fill our hearts to overflowing adoration of the Christ for all He has done for us. It is also a public way to show our service to Him.
The Gospels tell us of Christ’s kingship. Christ told to Pontius Pilate, “My kingdom is not of this world.” Yet, while Christ was on earth we saw that he was still king over all things: the sick were healed, the blind saw, and the oppressed were freed. He cast out demons, destroyed the power of satan and sin and gave divine gifts.
God gave Christ all judgement (John 5:22) and declared that every knee should bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that the Lord, Jesus Christ is in the glory of God, the Father. (Philippians 2:10)
This day reminds of that we have nothing to fear as we walk with Christ. It is a reminder that all we have comes from God and that we can consecrate all that we have to Christ, the King.
